About

Mariah Blaine-Longo, M.A., MTA

I’m a certified music therapist (MTA) and offer individual and group music therapy services to children, teens, and young adults.

I am a graduate of Concordia University’s Master of Arts in Creative Arts Therapies (Music Therapy Option) and the Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy. Currently, I am pursuing an M.A. in Counselling Psychology, integrating mindfulness-based approaches, psychodynamic perspectives, and client-centered frameworks into my work.

My services include:

  • Individual music therapy sessions

  • Group music therapy sessions

My Approach

I believe in the power of music as a therapeutic tool for self-exploration, healing, and transformation.

My past clients have sought music therapy for support with emotional regulation, anxious and depressive symptoms, trauma, grief, neurodivergent identities, and complex familial situations.

I’ve worked with children, youth, and young adults in elementary and high schools, mental health clinics, and community health centres.

My approach is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and client-centered, with a focus on cultural humility and resource-oriented support.

(Music therapy) can make the difference between withdrawal and awareness, between isolation and interaction, between chronic pain and comfort -- between demoralization and dignity.

— Barbara Crowe (Past President of National Association for Music Therapy)

I am an active member of the Pride Therapy Network of Montreal, a collective of independent mental health practitioners dedicated to providing culturally informed, accessible, and affirmative care for sexual and gender-diverse communities. As part of this network, I engage in ongoing training and group supervision to ensure an anti-oppressive, holistic, and intersectional approach in my practice.
